Numerical Simulation of Free Boundary Biviscous Fluids (Research Paper)
Pedro Martín Merino Rosero, Cristhian Alexander Núñez Ramos.
We simulate the flow of a free-boundary biviscous material characterized by a double-regime behavior determined by the yield stress. Developing a mathematical method to simulate this kind of fluid involves addressing challenges such as precise formulation, complex interaction with boundaries, numerical stability, computational efficiency, and experimental validation. In this paper, we propose a numerical scheme that combines the Semismooth-Newton method for solving the biviscous model with a Level-Set formulation describing the motion of the free boundary. We discuss the theoretical formulation of our method and the associated technical specifications for its implementation. Finally, we conduct a series of numerical experiments to verify the reliability and performance of the proposed methodolog.
